KLÜBER Summit T.A.N. -Kit

Easy and quick test method to check the ageing condition of compressor oils

Benefits for your application

– Rapid way of checking the condition (neutralization number) of compressor oils on the spot
– Suitable for determining the compressor oil change intervals
– Easy handling and determination of the neutralization number thanks to the simple set-up according to instructions enclosed
– Can be used for all conventional mineral and synthetic compressor oils

Description

Klüber Summit T.A.N.-Kit consists of a pipette (1 ml), a glass vial containing the test fluid and a cloth, all packed in a plastic bag.

Application

The Klüber Summit T.A.N.-Kit has been especially designed for the simple and rapid determination of the neutralization number to assess the ageing condition of compressor oils on the spot.
The Klüber-Summit T.A.N. kit can be used to test all conventional mineral and synthetic compressor oils. The T.A.N. kit measures the neutralization number in the range of 0 to 2 mg KOH/g and is therefore suitable for compressor oils.

However, it should not be used for oils with a neutralization number above 2.0 mg KOH/g (of fresh oil).

Application notes

Draw a sample of the used oil tested to the 1 ml mark of the graduated pipette. Wipe off the excess oil on the outside of the tube with the provided cloth and add the content of the pipette to the glass vial. Draw the solution in the vial into the pipette and squeeze it back several times in order to completely transfer all of the oil into the vial. Replace the vial cap and shake the vial for a few seconds. Depending on the neutralization number the color of the test solution will change:

Blue:

If the colour of the test solution remains blue, the used oil has suffered little ageing. The neutralization number is between 0 and 0.6 mg/KOH/g of oil.

Green:

A green colour indicates slight aging, however the oil can still be used. The neutralization number is in a range from 0.6 to 1.3 mg KOH/g of oil.

Brown:

If the test solution is of an orange to brown colour, the oil should be changed soon because of its advanced aging condition.

Please note that Klüber Summit T.A.N. kit offers reference values for the ageing condition of an oil but does not replace an analysis of all the items of a used oil.

When using the test kit, please observe the material safety data sheet and avoid contact with clothing and skin. Do not get in eyes.
